If you receive Pension Credit from the UK Government (not your standard state pension!), you could be entitled to have your old and in-efficient boiler replaced completely free of charge.

As we approach winter, its never been a more important time to ensure that your current heating is up to scratch. If your current boiler is over 8 years old, you can have a new condensing unit installed at no cost to you. Free boilers are available via grants, which are non repayable and do not need to be paid back at any time. A new boiler could cost somewhere in the region of 3.5k to have installed, so, why not tai advantage of a fully funded free boiler grant?

Pension credit automatically qualifies you, as long as you have all of your paperwork in place, you are the home owner/private tenant and you current boiler is over 8 years old then you will be able to have a new one installed with a warranty and guarantee.

Pensioner, on Pension Credit?

Check if you qualify today.

If you receive tax credits, either working tax credits, or child tax credits, there is a high probability that you will qualify for a free boiler under the ECO Scheme. Why do those on Tax Credits get a Free Boiler?…
Read more ›

If you receive tax credits, either working tax credits, or child tax credits, there is a high probability that you will qualify for a free boiler under the ECO Scheme.

Why do those on Tax Credits get a Free Boiler?

The UK Government has set-up a scheme, called ECO, the Energy Company Obligation. It has been set up to help those in low-income households or those in fuel poverty, have energy efficiency improvement sin stalled in to their homes free of charge. These can include free cavity wall insulation, free loft insulation and free boilers. One of the most commonly received benefits in the UK is Child Tax Credits, and this has had the most success in the ECO Scheme to help people have free boilers installed.

It’s Income-Related

If you receive child tax credits, you tick one of the boxes. In order to fully qualify, you will also need to have a household income of less than £15,860 per year. If you tick both of the boxes you will claim a free boiler through the Government.

In order to successfully claim for a free boiler replacement under the ECO free boiler scheme, you need to get a certain type of benefits. Any just won’t do, there is a criteria which needs to be met.

What benefits are needed?

The type of benefits are generally related to the households income. We call these, income-related benefits. Typically, you will get the correct benefits if you have a very low-income, are a single parent, or an older (pensioner) with little to no savings. We’ll cover these in more details below.

Some benefits qualify for a free boiler automatically. These include Pension Credit and Child Tax Credit (household income below 15,860).

What is Pension Credit?

Pension credit is a top-up to your standard state pension. If you receive a standard pension, you won’t qualify. If you get Pension Credit, you will qualify for a free gas boiler. For more details on Pension Credit – https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit

What is Child Tax Credit?

If you have a new born baby, or a child under 16, you could qualify for Child Tax Credits. If you get child tax credits and your income is below £15,860 then you can have a boiler installed for free. For more details on Child Tax Credit – http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/start/who-qualifies/children/children-taxcredits.htm
